PC1569 Reunions 2000 & 2001

(Including recent updates)

The first Reunion of the crewmates of the PC1569 was held on December 16th, 2000 at the American Legion Post #80 in Andalusia, Alabama. PC1569 veterans who were in attendance were Mr. Linton Voyles, Mr. & Mrs. Odis Spears, Mr. & Mrs. Sam Coward, Mr. & Mrs. Harrington Reed, and Mr. & Mrs. Carl Jarrett. These men served on the PC1569 in WWII and, for most, it had been 55 years since they had seen one another. It was a memorable, and sometimes emotional event. A 2001 Reunion has already been planned for December, 15th. of next year with even more PC1569 Veterans expected to attend (more details to follow).

Update #1: We are very sad to report that one of the crewmates who attended our 1st PC-1569 Reunion, Carl Wilson Jarrett, has passed away in August, 2001. Meeting Mr. Jarrett was an honor for me. Although he knew in advance that none of the crew that served during his time on the PC-1569 would be in attendance, he came anyway. He will be missed.

Update #2: The 2nd annual PC-1569 Reunion was held on December 15th, 2001 at the Golden Corral in Andalusia, Alabama. Odis & Margarette Spears and Sam & Mary Jo Coward attended. Although the attendance was low, they did enjoy themselves very much.

Update #3: I am sad to report that plans for future PC-1569 reunions are unsure at this time, as Odis Ray Spears (my Father) has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer on 12/17/01. The outlook is not good. We ask you keep him in your prayers. I will update this site when more is known about his condition.

Update #4: I am deeply saddened to report that my Father, Odis Ray Spears, passed away on the night of March 24th, 2002 in a Dothan, AL hospital at the age of 77 years. His influence on our lives has been extraordinary. We will keep him close in our memories. To the remainder of the PC1569 crew, he wanted us to keep this going. Sam, let's play it again for Odis and all the fallen crewmates of the PC1569.
